Jewelry Scam – Diamond Nexus Labs

September 01 8 Comments Category: Jewelry

A new website went up recently labled as a Consumer Guide to Synthetic Diamonds at http://www.consumerguidesweb.com. The site purports to provide a consumer’s guide to the best quality and service from companies providing man-made diamonds.. Great idea, it’s alwasy a great thing to have more information out there to help people decide..

Unfortunatly they seem to have left a little detail out..

Their #1 also happens to be owned by the guys that own the consumer report site.. Imagine that, a consumer report site giving the #1 spot to the company that also happens to own them.. Wow.. It might not be quite so bad if they had bothered to mention that somewhere on their site.. But they didn’t.. Not really a shock with the past track records of those involved..

Take a look here –
http://whois.domaintools.com/consumerguidesweb.com

and here -
http://whois.domaintools.com/diamondnexuslabs.com

The registrant for Diamond Nexus Labs is
registrant-firstname: Robert
registrant-lastname: Joseph
registrant-street1: 2644 Lorraine Circle
registrant-pcode: 60134
registrant-state: IL
registrant-city: Geneva
registrant-ccode: US
registrant-phone: +1.6304020534

And the registrant for consumerguidesweb.com is
Lamb, Lindsey
2644 Lorraine Circle
Geneva, IL 60134
US
6302125152

Interesting coincidence..

I suppose that we should be glad that the other two sites listed are not owned by the same company.. But it does make you wonder about any company that would stoop to this sort of trickery to gain sales.. Beware of Misleading Diamond Simulant Advertising from Unscrupulous Jewelry Vendors indeed..

Edited to add
9/05/06: It seems that the consumer website has already been removed and a blank page exists in it’s place now.. I wonder why a consumer based website would fold after just a few weeks??

  1. I have a good friend who is one of the best diamond cutters in the world. Told him about my recent purchase with Daimond Nexus Labs and he assured me it’s a scam. Here’s his reply.. Ceci,
Sorry but these guys are con artists. CZ is very inexpensive at the wholesale level. Their markup is 10 or more times.
Charles&Colvard have the patent on Moissanite. One and only source in the world. Side by side a cz looks pretty good but the minute it has a bit of lotion etc on it the fire dies. Because of poor optical properties, if we flip a cz on it’s face we can read the news print through the back. Neither a diamond or a moissanite will leak light this way.
There are very limited amounts of colorless synthetic diamonds. We cannot buy them because the production is scarce. Most gem syn diamonds are dark yellow and look like crap. What is produced in great quantities is tiny industrial syn diamonds. Thomas Hunn Company Jewelers

  4. Good article Feydakin!

For reference (and legal purposes) we saved a copy of the report they published….always good for a laugh:

In addition, we recently hired a material analysis lab to buy and evaluate the diamond nexus lab stone to definitively show what the product is:

  5. With all the confusion in the marketplace on what Diamond Nexus Labs and Russian Brilliants are really selling, I created a website that summarizes all the public commentary and research on the larger diamond simultant Internet marketers.

You can read through my articles on Moissanite, Diamond Nexus Labs and Russian Brilliants at:

  7. I bought two rings and a pair of CZ earrings from Jeweler’s Direct last year. I was impressed when I first opened the package and have continued to be satisfied with the quality a year and a half later. Everyone that has seen this jewelry has thought it was the real thing. It’s important to remember not to buy stones so big, that it would appear almost impossible for you to afford under normal circumstances. All of my jewelry is white gold btw. When my jewelry starts to become dirty or cloudy, I simply clean them with a soft toothbrush and toothpaste and they look brilliant again. Hope this helps. FYI, I settled on this company after months of research. Check out their BBB rating too.

  8. We purchased two rings from Carat. They are the most beautiful rings I have ever seen and no one knows they are not real! My engagement ring is now 3 years old and they other ring 1 year. They look as beautiful as they did the day they arrive. You will not be disappointed!
